Tim Wei-Ting Chen
Tim Wei-Ting Chen received his undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from National Sun Yat-Sen University in Taiwan. He then received his Master’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering from the University of Southern California. Mr. Chen was awarded his Juris Doctorate degree from Santa Clara University School of Law, where he was a member of the Santa Clara Computer & High Technology Law Journal while in law school.
Mr. Chen practices intellectual property law with an emphasis on IP litigation and patent prosecution in the fields of computer, electrical, mechanical, and telecommunication technologies. Prior to joining Tsao-Wu, Chow & Yee, Mr. Chen worked with various high-tech companies as an IP consultant. He is experienced in performing patentability, invalidity, and infringement analyses; advising clients on patent strategy and portfolio development; and prosecuting U.S. and international patent application.
Besides intellectual property, Mr. Chen’s includes general corporate and immigration matters. He was an immigration adviser at Katharine and George Alexander Community Law Center while in law school. Mr. Chen has experience in a range of immigrant and nonimmigrant business matters at both the corporate and individual level, including H-1B employment visas for professionals, L-1, E investors, labor certification and PERM applications, O and P visas, and EB-1 and NIW outstanding researchers and extraordinary ability petitions.
Mr. Chen is licensed to practice before all California State Courts, and in the Federal Northern District of California.
